This one was done up quite a while back, probably in what we can only really term 21st century traditional - poufs and bar furniture with the obligatory stripped floor. There wasn't any real ale when we were in last as they'd just had a delivery and nothing had settled yet. Okay, it's pleasant and friendly enough, if the clientele is a bit transient. The "goldfish bowl" effect the original pub had is still very much in existence, although the passing observer will now be more likely see young twenty-somethings with haircuts drinking spirits than the beery local workers of yore. We guess it doesn't have to try that hard - between shoppers and studenty types they seem to keep pretty busy.
