Old Eagle, Camden
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Old Eagle is an excellent pub that has by and large resisted any major refurbishments or other unnecessary trappings. Instead it's a genuine, friendly local boozer, with a good mixed crowd and friendly service. Stripped floorboards jostle with fiddles and other bits 'n' pieces attached to the ceiling, creating a cosy and quirky atmosphere. The choice of ale is a bit of a letdown, with only Old Speckled Hen on tap, while food comes from that late 90s throwback - a Thai Menu. Nevertheless, for a simply good, unpretentious time this is certainly one of the better pubs in Camden.

Quality boozer.
Good staff, decent Thai food that isn't too pricey, and the decor is cracking. Look out for the dozens of weird old musical instruments hanging from the ceiling, and the table tennis 'arena' hidden in the back yard.
The best thing about this place is the eclectic bunch of regulars, and I always find I leave to walk to the train station with a full belly and a smile on my face.

Ding dong. Very good boozer, with a mixed crowd but watch for a guy in a red tracksuit.
On a recent visit Leslie Phillips walked in, the pretty barmaid looked at him and said, "The usual? Champagne?"
Marvellous.
On a later visit some geezer had a run with a trio of thick set cricket players. But it ended with firm handshakes - instead of the usual kissing and making up. It's that kind of a place.
The food is Thai, freshly cooked and of pretty good quality.
Well worth a visit.
