Not much changed over the years, the Old Fountain is a traditional boozer, tucked away in a side street in an unfashionable part of the city. There are very good, well-kept beers on the hand pumps (usually with a couple of guest ales, a mixed, but genial enough crowd and an adequate range of pub grub to cater for the lunchtime trade, while a small selection of pizzas are served in the evening. We are heartily cheered to see the fish tank is still there every time we visit, although we didn't recognise any of the fish. Sometimes, we need things to stay as they are - if it works, why change it? The Old Fountain proves the point. On a final note, although it's a popular lunchtime haunt, it can sometimes get rather quiet later in the evening, which is either a good or bad thing depending on what you're after.
