The best pub on Plumstead Common, the Mill has excellent beer (between three and five real ales), friendly service and serves food at lunchtime. The pub has an unusual shell, having been converted from an 18th century mill, and there is a large rear beer garden. It's quite bare inside, and we'd like to see a couple of armchairs to raise the comfort level, but you can't be too picky round here. Unless local character Dave Courtney is in, there's little for the eye to wander over, though the lack of television is a boon if you want a quiet drink. Organic bottled ciders and wines are a welcome recent addition behind the bar too.
