The Old Oak is an increasingly rare example of North London local's boozer. Still, it seems to serve the residents of the rather grim council estates behind pretty well and whilst it was pretty lively instead, it didn't exactly brim with a welcoming atmosphere either. The decor is old fashioned, with elements of the 70s and 80s, but it was clean and cosy enough, with people sat around the gantried bar listening to some 1950s Rock 'n' Roll. Ordering a Scotch netted a Tennessee Whiskey instead, but the service was friendly and fast enough, while the prices were pretty reasonable. There's not much choice between Kentish Town and Hampstead, so if you're in need of some refreshment en route, you'll probably find it here.
