When we last visited this one, most noticeable was the Mock Tudor exterior and period interior (not many London pubs have large scale portraits of Bonnie Prince Charlie adorning their walls). Now under the umbrella of the Antic group, they're a group who often play up the look of their venues pre-ownership (such as we're the Balham Bowls Club). Happily, the Old Red Lion is no exception. As such the interesting interior is largely in tact, including separate bars and mock beams. It's had a tidy up though and the furniture is now an interesting mix of retro bits and pieces - 1950s cabinets and the like. A small and reasonably priced menu is now on offer and service is friendly. Sadly we did visit on an off day though, as our Sunday visit found it pretty empty, freeing cold and lacking ale (which would usually be Doom Bar). Little of interest in bottles and a cup of tea wasn't on the cards either to warm our bones. We did like the changes which have taken place so will be back again to give it another go.
