FancyaPint?'s review...
On our last visit, the Orange had lost some of the rigid formality we found on a previous visit, with tables no longer set for lunch and a more relaxed pub atmosphere in its place. And as it's more relaxed, it's not that bad, if leaning towards gastro. The beer's good on the four taps, the food looks and smells promising (particularly liked the look of the pizza). Okay, it's not the pub we remember but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's honest about it's upmarket leanings, with table service and an emphasis on good quality food and drink a plus in our books. It's stripped out interior may not be to everyone's taste, but it obviously does the job for the locals we were sharing it with on a pleasant enough afternoon visit. And if you don't mind a little traffic, there's always the tables on the pavement if you can grab one. If anything, the more relaxed atmosphere (compared to its sister pubs the Thomas Cubitt & Pantechnicon Rooms) is a bonus.

Haven't been back in a few years - discovered this in '80s and brought other US friends over for pints on every possible occasion since then. Ales and bitters were very good, pub food not bad either. I take my beer seriously.
Hate to see it ruined.
