Orange Tree, Palmers Green
FancyaPint?'s review...
One of those untouched locals' pubs that you rarely get in the middle of London, the floral display and cheery service of this one point to its well-maintained and popular status. When we last looked in, a mix of locals were hunkered down for a lazy afternoon of drinking, with a pool table and dartboard provided if they needed a little pub time exercise. Popular in real ale circles (some there was a choice of four on our visit) was also found various event throughout the week, from the pie and pint Mondays, to the Thursday quiz. Sunday roasts are also on the cards, but the promise of a regular bouncy castle on Sundays might indicate is has the propensity to be pretty family friendly at the weekend.

I spent several happy hours in the beer garden of this pub in the summer of 2007. My then partner and I were visiting England from Perth, Australia, and we found it ironic that England with its infamous weather could offer a more pleasant pub experience outdoors than Perth.
From an Aussie point of view, the pub was very small and very quiet. But the beer was excellent and the lady who served us our lunch was pleasant and efficient.
I'd give a lot to be back there now. It's 36C in the shade here at present.

This is my local and favourite pub in the area. It has a fantastic garden for sunny days - kids welcome but no dogs.
This is a proper blokes boozer - good beers, sport on big screen and pool/darts. The mrs is not so keen unless we sit in the garden.
Can be packed for football games especially gooners but also Chelsea, Spurs and Man U. Occasionally the landlord closes the pub to locals only.
Get there before 11 for a late pint on Friday and Saturday (but then again all Winchmore Hill pubs close late at weekends).
Sunday lunch is traditional pub standard - healthy portion but not a gastropub!
