This smallish pub is friendly enough out of hours and worth a visit when the theatre crowd has gone. Has a telly, plays music. That it has excellent Guinness probably goes without saying. Have a look.


Amalgamated with the Springbok next door. Both shut when we last looked.

From Charing Cross: Leave the station by the main entrance in the Strand and cross over. Take Agar Street and you should be able to see the pub ahead.From Covent Garden: Head straight through the market and go down Southampton Street. Turn right at Maiden Street and follow it around until it becomes Chandos Place. Pub should be visible ahead on right.From Leicester Square: Take the Covent Garden exit from the station and turn right into St Martins Lane. When you get to William IV, turn left and follow it round until it becomes Chandos Place. It should be ahead on the left.
