The park Tavern is located in a residential road nestled between houses and about 800 metres from the Kingston Gate entrance of Richmond Park. From the exterior it has the look of a real local traditional pub, but once inside the picture changes: the decoration is scruffy and the seating is some of the worst we have encountered. The majority is made up of hard and uncomfortable wooden benches. There is a small selection of cask ales but the prices are sky high, especially in view of the general standard of the pub -we paid £3.60 for a very average pint. The service was pleasant but very slow and food is not available. It may have once been a nice pub but it is certainly well past its heyday and with the cost of drinks, we can see little to recommend it.

How to find the Park Tavern pub

From Norbiton station: take the Kingston Hospital exit and head up Wolverton Avenue beside the hospital. Cross Kingston Hill and bear slightly right into Queen's Road. Take the third left into New Road. From Kingston: go left out of the station into Richmond Road and take the second right into Acre Road. Carry on until you reach Cross Road, taking the right turn and almost immediately left into Shortlands. The pub is ahead where the road becomes New Road.
