Perseverance, London
FancyaPint?'s review...
We can only assume the makeover of the Perseverance was to designed to attract the influx of heavily indebted twenty and thirty somethings who now call Dalston (sorry, Islington) their home. Consequently the old traditional looking boozer went, replaced instead by a stripped out affair, with a gastro type exterior and fresh coffee served all day. But don't get the wrong impression - this is still the old man boozer it always was, just now sparsely decorated instead. Despite jolly service, drinking here was pretty depressing, with a vague air of hopelessness. Notwithstanding the abusive drunk old man, you can imagine if you came here enough you might get on first name terms with some of the regulars. We'll leave it up to you to decide if this is something you're after.
