It's a bit over-bright, the interior of this pub, but if you're in here on a Saturday afternoon in winter, then that will be one of your lesser preoccupations. The local rugby team (Millwall RUFC) choose to use this pub for their post match celebrations and like to make sure that everyone else in the pub are made aware of this. You'd expect this sort of stuff in pubs to the south west of the city (and make plans accordingly), but it's a bit of a surprise in the gritty postindustrial landscape that comprises most of the Island. (Isle of Dogs, to you sirmadam). We suppose it's a side effect of encroaching yuppiedom - yes they are still with us - and something Eastenders will have to learn to live with. The pub itself is pretty ordinary but puts on a lot of stuff for its punters, such as live music Saturdays and quiz nights on Tuesday as well showing the (almost) mandatory sport in the afternoons.

How to find the Pier Tavern pub

You could cut across from Mudchute, but the easiest way to find it is to turn left out of Island Gardens station, then and walk along Manchester Road until you see the pub on your left. About a five or ten minute walk.
