Pig & Whistle, Walthamstow
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Pig and Whistle certainly doesn't look promising from the outside, being a flat fronted pub on the wrong side of Wood Street, but inside was considerably better. Its a pretty large place, decked out in muted colours and a (newly installed) flagstone floor, save for a front area which benefits from a scattering of couches. There's also a pleasant enough back garden (complete with a Swingball game) which appears to be in the throws of a refurbishment. What made this pub stand out for us, however, was the excellent, friendly service and the superb food. Visiting on a midweek afternoon meant we literally had the pub to ourselves, so we can't speculate what it's like in the evening - or even what kind of customers it attracts - but we enjoyed our time here and will certainly be back.
