The nearest pub to Welling train station, the Plough & Harrow struck us as being a somewhat contradictory place. The interior decor is immaculate, with not even a stain visible on the carpet, but the same can most certainly not be said of the locals' language; the beer garden is large, but has strictly limited seating; and the ladies' toilet door bears a sign stating that any men found loitering in the ladies' will be permanently barred (we jest not), yet there was not a single member of the fairer sex in the pub on our visit. The conversation at (and behind) the bar was akin to the script of the popular Brit flick "The Football Factory", peppered with so many profanities and dodgy anecdotes that it bordered on being entertaining. The beer is not up to much, despite the pub's Cask Marque status, and no Adnams beers were available (despite it being an Adnams pub!). That said, it is comfortable and pretty well-kept, with plentiful inside seating, and the landlord was a friendly chap, despite the "colourful" conversation with his regulars. We'll keep an open mind for now.

From Welling BR, go down the slope to the road at the bottom. Turn left and go to the end of the road. Then turn left onto Bellegrove Road. The pub is opposite, adjacent to a petrol station.
