STOP PRESS: The Porter & Sorter is under threat from developers wanting to build a skyscraper and replace it with a trendy bar and restaurant. Go and show your support - a petition is being circulated to stop the change of use, so sign it today.
Local for the postpeople of the nearby depot, and a handy one if you're leaving or arriving at East Croydon Station. It's popular, and we can only guess that it's proximity to the station has a lot to do with that. There's decent beer on the taps and a wine list that seems to meet most needs. Combine all that with good service and it's difficult to get it wrong. Okay, it's not the sort of place we necessarily want to stay for a session - the punters are a little too transient to make it a good local - but it's a good place for a couple drinks before getting the train or to meet and then go somewhere else.
