Prince of Wales, Balham
FancyaPint?'s review...
Talk about a time capsule - we don't think this one's changed since the last time we visited, almost a decade ago; it doesn't look like it's been decorated since then and okay, it's slightly dingy. It even looked closed until we saw someone come out of the understated entrance. It's still a friendly little local boozer hidden in a back street and far enough away from the main drag to keep out the trendies, although they'd be made to feel welcome should they venture out this far. It's an Irish pub in the way that they only seem to be in London, understated and almost working man's club-like with Guinness and John Smith's the main choice for beer if you don't want lager. Friendly staff and genial locals round it out to make it a pleasant place to while away an afternoon with a pint of the dark stuff and the racing form.
