Prince of Wales, Lambeth
FancyaPint?'s review...
This is a traditional boozer and very much a locals' pub, which looks more like a working man's club than anything else. And, despite the England flags everywhere, it has more than a hint of Irishness about it - and the Gaelic football on the telly last time we were in did nothing to dispel this feeling. Even so, everyone seemed quite content and fairly friendly when we were there. If you don't live nearby, there is probably no reason you would go here, but if you stumble out of the Imperial War Museum in the wrong direction, it's all right for a pint. With two fairly large rooms and a large outside area at the back, there is plenty of space, especially in summer. It does pub food, and everything costs a fiver. What we're most intrigued by is the offer of "Sunday Roast to take away" - beef, pork or lamb. No mucking about, it knows exactly what it's there for.

I love this pub! Regularly go there for a pint during the day. Prices are low and the food is tasty, and portions massive!
Also great in the evening - recently had a birthday party there which was great fun, the manager was very welcoming and accommodating to us all. Highly recommend.

looks a little rough at first but this is an amazing pub. The staff and regulars are really friendly and the atmosphere has always been relaxed and happy. This is a very student friendly pub and often accommodates for the local art university by always making the students feel welcomed; even the locals don't mind mixing with the students. Beers are fairly priced and the food is excellent value for money; big portions and good quality. Worth mentioning this pub caters for a gluten free diet with a decent selection of meals.

A great Quiet local during the week. At weekend has some great live music and parties. Enjoy going down for a few quiet pints in the evenings to watch to footie or even a FAI game. Very friendly staff and Gov. Sunday food is pretty good also. All round nice local for E&C.

Not sure all of the previous comments are genuine, but they speak the truth: this place is excellent. Clean, nice atmosphere, good crowd, excellent, friendly landlord (provides free treats sometimes!), good food, drinks priced fairly, four large flat screens showing everything you can think of, nice pool table, outdoor seating... I'm a regular now! Only area of possible improvement could be the gents room, but it's not horrible and you're not spending too much time there.

This is a fantastic pub. Great staff, sport on the TV, brilliant (and cheap) Sunday Roasts, the rest of the food is pretty good too. I started going to the POW after playing football on a Wednesday two years ago, now I'm a regular visitor at weekends too. I would definately recommend it!

Wednesday nights are made by a trip to the Prince of Wales! We always end the night there after football and are never let down. You can guarantee that the live football will always be on and you wont have to stand. The staff are extremely welcoming and there's a great atmosphere. The Prince of Wales...The Prince of Pints!

This is a fantastic little pub which we think of as our local perfect for a Sunday roast. The food is always piping hot and wholesome and you cannot go past that old world Irish hospitality. Its a well kept secret in the heart of Lambeth.

Been coming here after football every week for over a year now and really like the place. The landlord and the staff are very friendly (they even make us sandwiches), there's a garden and a very good jukebox. We're not locals but we've always been made to feel welcome. If you're looking for somewhere to go for a few around Elephant then there's nowhere better in my opinion.

How to find the Prince of Wales pub
From Elephant and Castle: From the nightmare roundabout that is Elephant and Castle, take St. George's Road, heading for Westminster/Waterloo. The pub is about a 5 minute walk, on the left hand side of the road. From Lambeth North: turn right onto Westminster Bridge Road and then cross over, taking the right hand fork onto St. George's Road. Keep going, crossing Lambeth Road too, and the pub is further down St. George's Road on your right.
