This can be a bit of a refuge from the madness of the pubs around Stratford Broadway. That said, the only bitter (Deuchars) was off when we were in last, so we had to settle for the very nice Guinness. So far it's managed to avoid the bulk of the creeping gentrification of Stratford's city centre so far, but who knows how long that will last? The regulars obviously like it this way. Friendly enough staff and the fact strangers are tolerated is always a bonus. Oh, and you should probably avoid it if you don't like football when a match is on.

How to find the Princess of Wales pub

On leaving the tube, it's probably easiest to cut through the Stratford Centre across the road. Go straight through and you should come out by McDonald's. Cross the Broadway and go down the road to the left of the Swan. When you get to the next set of lights, the pub is across the road.
