Queen Victoria, Theydon Bois
FancyaPint?'s review...
Theydon Bois, despite its diminutive size, supports four pubs. What is more, this one, facing the expansive, triangular, village green, would be an asset to any community: a real classic local. We were a little apprehensive on approaching, as one part of the outside seating area seemed to be dominated by what we took to be loudmouthed boy racers, but once inside it was a different story. A small labyrinth of charming rooms, a variety of mostly very cosy seating, at least one real open fire and some well-kept Hertfordshire McMullen real ales. The atmosphere was relaxed, with nonintrusive background music, and very friendly staff and locals. Food and an extensive selection of fruit and herb infusions are also served, but this is very much a pub, and one worth travelling to visit.
