Queen's Arms, Victoria
FancyaPint?'s review...
Pimlico is a jolly nice area where a lot of jolly nice people live and the Queen's Arms is the jolly nice pub they frequent. The formula is pretty familiar nowadays, bare floorboards, simple wooden furniture, plain decoration, fancy light fittings and, of course, an emphasis on food. That's not to say the drink's been neglected - there's a good range on offer with a couple of real ales on the hand pumps, plenty of other beers - on tap and in bottles - and a decent wine list. But food's really the main thing here and you'll find a typical gastropub menu on offer - there's also an upstairs dining room for more formal occasions, should the need arise. It's a relaxed and civilised place for a drink or two and, obviously, something to eat, but some may find it too quiet. However, all this sophisticated wining and dining comes at a steepish price - the Queens Arms is rather more expensive than surrounding pubs, which, we guess, helps keep the place exclusive, but in these hard times it might be somewhat off-putting for the average pubgoer. Although making all the tables reserved on a Monday night might put even more people off - why drive away paying customers?

nice little pub with a mixed crowd - great varity of beer both lager and bitter (some seasonal), the food was good and affordable. only downside was that the upstairs restaurant was closed due to staff shortage and thus the actual pub was quite full and difficult to get a table.
