Queen's Head, Turnpike Lane
FancyaPint?'s review...
The boards are up and the skip is outside. Having only been taken over in 2008, the latest incarnation didn't last long. We'll keep an eye out to see what happens here, but we wish a decent pub company would come an inject some life into this grand building.

Sadly this grand old building is no longer going to be a pub, it is currently being refurbished to become a furniture showroom. All the bar fittings and woodwork has been stripped out and the walls are now a sea of bare plaster.
A great pity, this was the only pub in the area with a decent off-street beer garden and as a space had enormous potential.

Every pub these days needs an absolutely clear formula in order to survive and prosper. This pub was taken over in 2008 by a young Asian guy from Hackney who decided to use it to further his own ambitions as a would-be MC. Big mistake. Everyone - I mean everyone - left and never returned.
The Queen's Head used to be full to bursting every night several years back under its Irish boss, a guy who had a winning formula of pool tables at one end of the pub and live rock music at the other end, alongside an excellent rock and contemporary jukebox that was heavily used by the clientele.
It ain't rocket science. Is there anybody out there?
