Queen's Head, Winchmore Hill
FancyaPint?'s review...
We have to confess to having had pretty high hopes about the reopening of the Queens Head. Having seen this once fantastic pub systematically run into the ground, it certainly needed new owners to shake the place up. Described on their Facebook profile as a "home away from home", our optimism peaked. Sadly our good ship of hope has been smashed against the jagged rocks of disappointment. A lot of hard work has been done here, but the result is more akin to a sleek West End bar than any sort of home. Black uniform chairs, uniform tables, minimalist walls, the feel was cold and bare - the sort of aspirational-looking bar suburban pubs occasionally get turned into. A couple of plasma screens sat above the bar, while a sign indicated that food is available from tomorrow. Although there were certainly a lot more customers than our last visit, the drink choice was worse. We counted 5 lagers off and no ales (one clip was turned around) - they have seemingly failed to sort stock control just yet. In the end we saw no reason to stay beyond a short visit, as nearby pubs with better drink choice and a warmer atmosphere beckoned us. We'll go back again soon to see if things warm up, but at the moment it feels like a lost opportunity. Shame.

Fantastic food, relaxed atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff. It also has a nice outdoor area. The chef even came out to ask if our food was ok. Great pub.

WHAT A LOAD OF TOSH - This pub is BRILLIANT, if anyone including the top reviewer had actually been here before the new owner - they would agree this pub has been taken from the grave and been given new life!!!
The toilets are perfect, its a clean livley pub, we all love it here. THE STAFF are totally brilliant, food was good. I am so pleased this pub has taken over the Winchmore Hill masses, the kings is over priced and ponsy !!! Long live the Queens

I live around the corner from this pub and found myself plesantly suprised with the new look outside and inside. A considerable amount of money has been spent here to bring this pub to a standard the winchmore hill residents will drink in - i think they have achived this. LONDON PRIDE ALE was perfectly served with a smile! i will be coming back this sunday with my family for a nice roast carvery.

I totally agree with the comments below; infact i could add to the endless list of things that are wrong with this pub.
I am pleased to inform you that this pub has been taken over by myself and business partner Tom. We intend to totally refurbish this site and create a warm, welcoming pub with highly trained staff and great products.
