Red Lion (ex-Zulus Bar), Leytonstone

Fantastic pub. Best in Leytonstone, and one of the best in East London. My wife, daughter and I are locals at the increadible Birkbeck Tavern in Leyton (similarly fantastic) and occasionally make a trip up to the Red Lion for it's extensive selection of beers and great atmosphere.

Fantastic. Great pub. Quirky, funny, interesting. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and efficient. Sorry I have to have one gripe and that is the white wine list - it needs a bit more choice.

Glad to see this fine old pub has returned from its sojourn as a fighting pub for brutish South Effricans. It is now a trendy, but charming pub with an excellent range of beers in good condition. Food looks excellent, and menu is enticing, but haven't tried yet. Could do with some drapes to deaden the sound as its size and wooden floor and furniture render it a bit of a sounding box. Current clientel don't want to fight you, so that's an improvement.
