An inviting-looking place amid several nondescript pubs on Welling High Street, unfortunately we arrived a fraction too late to be served at the bar on a recent public holiday (though we did get a peek inside and it looked quite pleasant). We'll make sure we pop in next time we are in DA16.

If you like a beer, well kept, in a drinkers pub, you cannot go wrong with the rose. My local for 22 years, in my opnion the best pub in welling/bexleyheath. Nice pub, nice staff, nice clientelle and no mess'ers.
I live in Devon since last year, but always try my hardest to get in the rose when in south London. Also a good seafood shop next door!

How to find the Rose & Crown pub

From Welling BR (approx 1km), go down the slope to the road at the bottom. Turn left and go to the end of that road (Central Avenue). Then turn left onto Bellegrove Road. This eventually becomes Welling High Street. The pub is on the left, a short way past the Nag's Head. Several buses serve this stretch, including No. 51 (Orpington-Sidcup-Welling-Woolwich).
