The Albert is currently the best pub in New Cross and is well attuned to the upmarket drift of the area in recent years. Inside, you'll find the assortment of odd furniture, Belgian beer, taxidermy and mood music (keynotes of other Antic Ltd venues like Tooting Tram and Social and Balham Bowls Club). The funky furnishings and friendly service at this one pull in the mix of young locals and students that you might expect round here. Choosing a decent pub to meet in between Deptford and New Cross used to be tricky but the reliable Royal Albert had remedied that.
