No longer an unloved tourist trap off Oxford Street, the refitted Running Horse is now more akin to its near neighbour Claridges. With wood panelling, some sofas in the corner and a pricey pub nouveau menu it's a cut above a lot of the pubs-by-number in the area in both design and class of punter. The bar is not massively well-stocked, and maybe more well suited to, well a bar maybe - fine if you're after a rum (Havana Club naturally) and coke, but the London Pride pump looked very lonely and a little out of place - there is another pump with guest beers around the corner, now. There are worse pubs in the area, but also better ones with less attitude (according to their promotional literature this is a "traditional Mayfair gastro pub". Just like those traditional iPods you get these days).
