Reopened earlier in the year, it's quite a different kettle of fish to what came before. Gone is the central bar which used to run down the pub, replaced by a much smaller bar at the back with more seating and tables than before. At least it's not got polished wood floors like most refurbs these days - this has to be the first refurb we've seen in ages with a traditional pub carpet. It's possible to have a conversation in here without having to shout above the noise of other conversations and footsteps across the floor. It can get pretty quiet in here (Mondays can be virtually empty) but as with most places it gradually picks up during the working week. The beer's pretty good, with Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Pedigree on the pumps and its rare to see a pool table in these parts. The food's nothing out of the ordinary, being essentially basic pub grub, but it is pretty cheap.

Became the S&M cafe and now even that's closed. Should have kept it a pub.
