One of Fuller's Ale & Pie houses, the Sanctuary House has the added bonus (if you're a visitor to London) of being a hotel as well. Although the pub is handily sited for the many tourist attractions around Parliament Square and the offices of central government in the area, the place doesn't get as packed as you might expect, particularly at weekends, although it is popular as an after work venue. The Sanctuary has plenty going for it - there's a first-class (especially if you're a fan of Fuller's) range of drink on offer, including the full Fuller's range on the hand pumps, a decent wine list and a good pub menu - the featured pies are tasty and good value. As it's a hotel, the pub is family-friendly, the bar service is excellent, sometimes you get table service when it's quiet and the décor and, whilst it won't be featured in Architectural Digest any time soon, the place is clean and well looked after. Maybe the prices put people off, but they're not that expensive for these parts and the quality is there, unlike some of the others nearby.
