Sekforde Arms is a very pleasant Young's pub in an old residential area just off Clerkenwell Road. Of course, it's all residential round here nowadays, with all the warehouse conversions and new apartment blocks going up, but the Sekforde Arms is no mere arriviste - we'd hazard a guess that it's been like this round here from very early in the 19th century. The service is friendly, the beer very well-kept and the food unpretentious (and with an unpretentious price tag too). This pub fits very comfortably with its surroundings, it's a genuine local and outside the immediate area hardly anyone seems to know about it. It can get busy, with local workers and regulars, but they tend to be an easy-going lot, so we can't say it really detracts from the experience. Definitely one we'd recommend looking out for. Let's just hope it doesn't get the shortened name and gutted interior that a lot of other Young's pubs - excuse us - "lifestyle bars" are getting.

This pub is the archetypal old style Young's backstreet local's boozer, complete with picture of the Queen Mum sampling a pint at the brewery - as is statutory in Young's pubs.

We meet here fairly regularly and the beer is always good and even if the furnishings are a little shabby in parts, the food more than makes up for it. The portions are generous. The meals well cooked. Nothing particularly fancy or "gastronomic" but always good quality.

It's tucked away on a back street but well worth the trip for a good, if relatively quiet, night out.

This is a pub that is highly recomended. We are two Norwegian boys (about 45 years old), that visited the pub in the beginning of September. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and we were almost alone inside the pub. But we had som very interesting talks with the young bartender. We planned staying there for a pints time, but I think we did four. Very nice building and the interior was under construction, but will be left in old fashioned style. We did 19 local pubs during three days in London. We have to go back to Sekford Arms and we will be back next year so watch out!
