Small pub frequented by those who know the shortcut that misses out the corner where Holborn station is. Amazingly it's been refurbished relatively recently but the designers have eschewed the tired "battered furniture and bare boards" look and redecorated it to look... just like a proper pub! For this alone it's worth visiting; when you add in well kept draft beers, friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere and the fact you can often find a seat in here, it becomes high up on the list if you're in this area.
They've done really well to maintain standards and the food, function hire and improving beer selection make this an absolute cracker of a pub. Beer range is dominated by Heineken brands, but then it is a tied house. Bit dull but there you go.

Nice live jazz music was coming from the pub in one sunny Sunday afternoon. Attracted by the music I went inside, holding a small plastic bottle of mineral water. After a minute or two, a manager came to me and patting on the shoulder pointed to my bottle of water
and the exit door. I will never come back. In this area, I definitely recommend a lot nicer
Princess Louise.

Top notch pub, small but plenty of seats and nooks in which to rest your beer and food. Serves a decent range of ales, large pork pies as bar snacks, service is friendly and efficient. Can get very busy despite the hidden location, because, well, it's a very good pub. My immediate first choice when in the area. And the tube home is just at the end of the alley!

Absolutely brilliant pub. Glorious interior, and we love the fact that it's a hidden gem. The food was very good - a pretty average menu for pub fare, but The Ship doesn't profess to be a gastropub! We will we back!

A true Gem of a pub. A very nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. Hidden enough not to be reliant on tourists, and perfect location for heading home on the Tube! One of the best in London.
