Sometimes it seems like there are pubs that never change - and this one is a case in point. It's still a large pub in a in a prime location, which, of course, is what brings it down - it's smack bang in the heart of the theatre district, bringing through a constant tide of people flowing in and out as they make their way to and from the shows. Especially in the evenings, when all the regulars have gone home to suburbia. Being a McMullen pub, the choice of beers is not your usual West End selection and they've got a good pub grub menu. This pub's okay, and a good place to meet because of its prominent location, but it's not necessarily one you would go out of your way for. And there's live music (jazz features heavily in the schedule) in the basement every night of the week.

How to find the Spice of Life pub

Leicester Square: Take the Leicester Square exit from the station and turn left. Head up the road and cross Shaftesbury Avenue (Cambridge Circus is the wide bit) - you'll know when you get there, as Les Mis has been on at the theatre across the road for what feels like forever. The pub is right next to the theatre. Tottenham Court Road: Take the Charing Cross Road exit from the station and head down towards Shaftesbury Avenue. The pub is off to the left - shortly after you pass Foyles bookstore - and next to the theatre where The Woman in White is.
