In the shadow of the (closed) Young's Brewery, the Spread Eagle greets you with a great exterior - and doesn't disappoint inside either. From the exceptionally rare entrance awnings to antique mirrors and etched glass, the décor lends a charming old-fashioned atmosphere to the place. We've seen this one very quiet at times, but pleased to say when we last looked in, a good-sized contingent of SW18 locals were sampling the pub's Victorian glories (and giving the pool table and dart board a good going over). In fact, the place was in the middle of a paint job when we were last in but the smell of drying Dulux hadn't had a detrimental effect on the number of thirsty locals sat at the bar, around the tables or next to the welcoming real fire. The Young's beers satisfy, and even if this one may not be the place for a rip-roaring time, this is still certainly a pub worth seeing.
