St. Margaret's Tavern, St. Margaret's
FancyaPint?'s review...
Recently refurbished, this one is almost a 'How to' guide in pub renovation. There are usually 8 real ales on tap, a lengthy menu (with all mains under 10) and a wine list to keep all but the most precious of grape fans satisfied. It's a fair size as well: big enough to accommodate a centrally positioned fireplace and enough space to hide away in if you don't want to watch the sport. Given the proximity to Twickenham (it's about a 10 minute walk away), it's the rugby that dominates the plasma screens, and during the Six Nations the pub even gives over a marquee at the back for the more devoted followers. Add on a weekly pub quiz and live music on a Sunday and you sense a pub that's doing its best to attract as many punters as possible. Given the range and numbers of them present on our last visit, you can tell they're succeeding. Ordering food can be a bit of a hassle when it's busy, but on all other fronts this is as good as it gets in these parts.
