Stage Door, Lambeth
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Stage Door is a lively, friendly back street pub, a stone's throw from Waterloo tube station and appropriately tucked around the back of the Old Vic theatre. The service is as friendly and the overall relaxed atmosphere helped by subtle lighting. There's a good-looking, late serving, un-gastroesque menu (featuring burgers) and a couple of real ales on tap. There's also a pretty standard range of beers and lagers and tap and wines and spirits. Off to one side, they've managed to squeeze a pool table into the tightest possible space, which must've been tricky for those long shots and there are a few TVs were dotted about, showing football on our visit (we hear it gets busy for the important footy matches, as well as the cricket). Filled with afterwork people on weekdays, the weekends finds it a more local affair - with live music featuring most weekends, but if this was your local, you'd be happy to spend time here. Who knows, maybe local man Kevin Spacey does, too?
