Tamworth Arms, Croydon
FancyaPint?'s review...
The good news is, this one survived the perils of the planning office and lived to be a pub - hurrah! This is just to prove that not all planning officers are willing to sacrifice the local pub in the name of some developer's idea of progress. So we're happy to report this remains a comfortable, traditional Young's pub off the main drag in Croydon. With the open fire lit on winter days and Young's well-kept beer, an attractively tiled exterior and pleasant atmosphere, this pub is a world away from the theme/style bars in central Croydon. Friendly staff and tolerant locals round it out, making it a very pleasant place to while away an afternoon with the paper and decent pint. Definitely one for those who prefer not to drink with hairdressers and estate agents.
