A return to a more traditional name a while back seems to have heralded a return to form for this pub, for that is what it is - a pub that just happens to provide reasonably-priced, good food. Two ales on the bar alongside a selection of continental beers covers the bases and a wine list that covers most of the globe should meet the needs of most in terms of drink. There's sport on the projection screen, although we think it's probably big events, mostly, and a room upstairs that's available for private hire. What made it for us was the music selection and the great landlord - it was all classics from the 60s and early 70s when we got in, and when we complained about the Boys II Men cover of the Commodores "Easy" he said in response that the staff complain if he plays too many oldies at a time. Which made us laugh a lot! Anyway, this one's settled in nicely and with good beer and its flock wallpaper, stripped floors and comfortable banquette down one side makes it a great choice in the area.

Friendly and helpful staff, however only 2 ales on tap and one was gone and the other tasted stale. Bad smell in the back area behind the enormous projection screen. Music was ok but too loud to chat with friends.
