The Albany, Twickenham
23 Jan 2012
The Albany tries to be a gastro pub without really suceeding. The food's nothing special, and is quite expensive for what it is. They used to do half price deals on the food which was more reasonable but no longer unfortunately.
Beer is a selection of foreign lagers, plus Spitfire and Master Brew, which gets dull very quickly. They also do Guiness.
The pub itself is reasonably comfortable. There's a TV in the corner with Sky Sports News on all the time (they don't actually have Sky Sports). The toilets in the basement are pretty horrible, but other than that it's a decent enough place to have a pint or two.
There's a seating area out the front, but as the pub's East facing, it rarely gets sun.
On rugby days they remove all the seats and set up a bar outside. Due to there being plenty of space outside it's usually heaving. The rest of the time it's rarely that busy.
