The Alexandra is an unremarkable local Irish pub, in an area replete with no fewer than three Irish pubs. Its vaguely attractive from the outside, but inside we weren't made to feel entirely welcome by the middle-aged/old local men who come here (possibly every day) to drink from the poor choice of beer. As we were leaving there seemed to be some more lively entertainment getting underway and consequently the crowd became slightly younger, although sadly no more friendly. There's also a little beer garden off to the side, but knowing it backs onto a petrol station rather takes the shine off - beer and petrol fumes don't make good bedfellows. If you want an good Irish pub, Maddens is only a few minutes away.

Eclectic place - good beer ( v fine pint of Tribute), bizarre decor and a real mix of clientele. A neighbourhood gem and a good antidote to all the try-hard gastropubs.

The Alex serves but one useful function: to concentrate most of the local lowlife in one small area! The worst pub in East Finchley.
