Conjuring up images of Arthurian legend - or perhaps Bryan Ferry in a white dinner jacket - this Balham pub's been spruced up by the people behind The Abbeville in Clapham and The White Hart in Kennington. So, dining room in; big screen, out. It seems to have convinced the locals and regulars, as it's still going strong as a gastro haven in the heart of Nappy Valley. It is a huge pub, with a huge dining room and even bigger beer garden out back with enough Calor gas at the ready to re-export back to Norway.

not a bad boozer. given location, not too many clapham tw@ts either. good food, althought not true fancyapint.com stylee... am sure there's salad with basalmic dressing and all that jazz. that said, they've spent some cash on the garden (although you can't drink in there after 9.30pm), and do table service.

been there twice and always been packed, with some good viewing!
