When we visited post-refit in late 2008, the Bear immediately impressed us with its range of adventurous beers, its menu range and its spacious, traditional interior. On a recent visit, a beer festival was in full swing (with 3 pints for the price of 2) and the pub was full of happy Friday night customers. Figure in excellent music and a quality wine list and the Bear grows in stature. A helpful barman patiently explained the beer range and made suggestions, showing an impressive attention to detail. The food was been highly recommended to us and we'll be back to sample it. Simply an excellent pub.
