The Beehive, Clapham Junction
FancyaPint?'s review...
A couple of years back, this one got an enthusiastic thumbs-up from us. We praised the laid-back feel of the pub and the mixed clientele it attracted. Unfortunately, a few years on, the Beehive is no longer the place it once was. Inside, the walls have been painted a cheap-looking green colour which jars with the cosy-sized proportions of the pub. The drinks are on offer are decent enough (this is still a Fuller's pub after all) but the clientele base appears to have narrowed, resulting in a pub where you might not feel immediately at home unless you live close by. Perhaps we're judging this one too harshly against its former self, but there's a tacky averageness on show here that's just all a bit depressing.

This area's come on a bit in recent times which is evident from pretentious bars scattered around St Johns Hill. The Bee Hive bucks this trend though. It's a proper well kept old fashioned down to earth boozer. It's obvious from the friendly atmosphere that the Beehive has become a social hub for an eclectic mix of regulars who appreciate the quality beer and honest surroundings.
The Beehive stands above the other pubs in the area by being brave enough to maintain traditional pub values; great beer, friendly atmosphere, old fashioned duke box and the bloke who runs it couldn't look more like a pub landlord if he was Al Murray's long lost brother.
Fantastic little pub. Great find.
