A few years of steady evolution have slowly transformed the Belle Vue from a fairly decent swanky pub into arguably one of the best all-round watering holes in Clapham. The changes have been gradual and piecemeal, with a steady erosion of the mismatched pictures, gimmicky drapes and cumbersome furniture that once gave the interior a high-class junk shop feeling. Now the focus is very much on providing a comfortable experience, replacing all the tat and boot sale furniture with simple tables and chairs. The best elements of the Belle Vue have also been maintained, with the bar continuing to serve a wide range of lagers and cask ales, including Sambrook Brewery's Wandle, and decent food. Equally, for those who like a bit of glitz with their bottle of Leffe, the Belle Vue does retain its basic polished wooden fittings and smooth decor, its just that this nod to swankville is not as false nor in your face as in the past. If anything, it's owes much more to trendy bars than pubs, but that isn't a bad thing. We can recommend it as the place to go.

Lively but friendly pub exceptionally located in the centre of Clapham. Almost on top of Clapham Common tube and a stone's throw from the Common. Good mixture of clients - a combination of regulars and those "just visiting". Quiz on Monday nights is generally well attended (and not prohibitively tough). Food is on a par with th gastro-pubs - rather than opting for the Thai option which seems to be pervading almost every Clapham pub these days, the menu is a mixture of traditional pub fare, but with a number of tapas style options when only nibbles are required. Staff charming and not unattractive. Decor traditional but with a modern twist. Look closer at some of the artwork. Good selection of beers and lagers is accompanied by a comprehensive, yet inexpensive wine list.
