Perhaps it was sitting outside on an idyllic early summer evening after a brisk cycle from Central London on the tow path, but this pub really did it for us. Overlooking the canal in the amorphous suburban sprawl of Greenford, the pub has a large outside seating area although the locals - a seemingly civilised bunch - seemed mostly to stick indoors. Admittedly, Greenford isn't the most idyllic canalside location - the Black Horse is in the middle of an industrial estate - but the view is leafy and pleasant enough with lots of birds to be seen and heard.Fullers have redecorated and 'improved' the pub in the past few years but they didn't seem to commit any especially heinous architectural crimes in the process. But best of all, it had cask marque ESB and Pride on tap along with very tasty Honeydew and the food was spot on. An especially handy spot if you're cycling or walking the tow path.
