An often intimidating place packed with long-standing regulars. Unless you're one of them, we don't think you'll find too much to enjoy here.

I totally agree with all the above apart from the intimidation comment, must be a country bumpkin! When I go travelling, the first thing I want to do is taste and experience the real locals local, this is just that sort of place, and if you are a foreigner looking for that sort of thing or you want a few cheap drinks while listening to some great sounds before hitting the clubs, then this is the place you need to visit. You will not only get a taste of a seriously good pint of Guinness, one of the best outside of Ireland I'd say, but you will get a real taste of the locals local, a very mixed sense of humour as you've got Irish, British, African and Caribbean banter going on, it's quite unique. The quality duke box they have has been mentioned already, but I have to stress this as it's not very often that you will go into what looks like a general run of the mill pub, and hear TOP QUALITY sounds getting pumped out as in this place, then, you have the Wednesday Karaoke where the locals pull out the stops belting out tunes to the early hours of Thursday morning, and then you've the Friday night sounds by MC-Steve, AKA "Human Duke Box". I have friends who own nightclubs in Central London who would be very happy to have the sort of sounds Steve plays in their clubs, seriously, this pub is the ideal place to get "warmed up" as we used to say before going onto the clubs, drinks are cheap as chips, friendly smiley easy going people both sides of the bar, train outside from Finsbury Park to the West End and Shoreditch as well as buses, and for all that brilliant local entertainment it's absolutely FREE, yep, no entrance fee!!!!!!!!! Enjoy, Johnny

Just spent a fantastic weekend in London with great friends, and this place was the setting. Good cheap beer, amazing jukebox, friendly staff. What more could you want?? well if you want more, its a stones throw from Finsbury park tube and the actual park, lots of places to eat nearby (24hr bagel place!)Its a proper pub for proper people.

I've only been to this pub twice, but it is the most welcoming place ever. The beer is very good and the jukebox is awesome. I can also highly recommend the railing outside as a fantastic Santa spotting place.
If you're looking for a proper pub, not some gastro, meet your clients kind of place, then The Blackstock is perfect.

This is a proper pub. Not a trendy watering hole or a ten-a-penny identikit franchise boozer. Myself and some friends were made completely welcome by both the staff and "intimidating" locals. If you like cheap beer, an excellent jukebox and staff who are up for a laugh then there is no other place like it.

This place is just awesome.Just had one of the best weekends drinking in London ever and we never left this place. Great music great staff and the landlord is a quality bloke. If you like people planking on table's acting like meerkats then this is the place for you if not come along anyways as it is just the best pub in Finsbury if not London.
