Promisingly situated down a side-street called Brewer's Lane, this is possibly the best of the cluster of pubs just off Richmond's George Street. All bases seem to be covered: decent food, fair drink, and an atmosphere conducive to enjoying them. The TVs for the sport don't seem to get in the way of nattering locals, and, when the weather allows, there's a good-sized garden and roof terrace at the back to sample. As an optional extra there's also a comedy club upstairs on a Sunday night. Back to the drink, the wine list seemed well chosen, whilst ales offered were included Sharp's Doom Bar. In showing there's more to the Massive pub brand than Identikit Tup pubs, this one has a rather singular air to it - which is probably why photos of Sean Connery (as Bond with his Aston, naturally) and hirsute rakes Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Graham Hill fit in nicely on the wall.
