It seems to us that the omens are none too propitious for the Castle. The last time we were in most of the beers were off, the dark interior looked shabbier than ever and a general air of gloom and despondency pervaded the pub. With the old Goodmans Fields computer centre lying derelict across the road and a dilapidated sweatshop for a next door neighbour, it seems this part of Aldgate is ripe for development. It's a pity - the Castle was one of the last old-style boozers around here. If you live or work near to one, enjoy it while you still can.

Head out of the easternmost exit and head towards Whitechapel. When you get to the traffic lights at the junction with Osborn Street and Whitechurch Lane turn right and walk down to the next set of traffic lights at the junction with Commercial road. You'll see the pub over the road on the corner.
