This pub is a real find within spitting distance of Paddington station, The Cleveland Arms is a proper pub, eclectically decorated, nestling within an area full of large white Georgian townhouses. It is not particularly big, but people are often more than happy to make room - particularly on the quiz night, which is a friendly occasion, despite the gruffness of the quiz master/landlord (we think he's just shy). There are three ales on tap (Greene King IPA, Landlord and a couple of guest ales - the excellent Brain's Merlin being one of the ales last time we were in), there's more choice in bottles (e.g. Leffe Blonde, Polish beers, Magners) plus the usual Guinness, lagers etc. - all at decent prices, as befits a truly independent pub. The background music is just that - in the background. Plus, we should mention the food in this review: it is honestly and unashamedly microwaved in front of you on the bar and not only tasty, but excellent value. The Cleveland Arms is a top-class local, with excellent beers and a warm friendly atmosphere - exactly how a pub should be.

What a great pub, we were staying quite close so ventured in, 5 real ales, including O'Hanlons Yellow Hammer and Salopian Darwin's Origin, regular beers included Landlord.
Food was OK although produced from pouches in the micro-wave they are excellent value for money. Locals seemed to be enjoying themselves getting thoroughly bladdered. Will book a hotel nearby just so I can visit again

Visited this pub for strictly one pint only recently and very much regretted having to leave so soon. Five minutes from Paddington and it actually looks and feels like a boozer. It has peanuts in jars on the tables, a decent range of beers and a boar's head mounted on the wall wearing an Indian head-dress and sunglasses. what more could you want? okay, if you live local and you do want more, they also have a parcel receipt service so you can get stuff delivered there when you aren't home. i want this to be my new local. superb.

How to find the The Cleveland Arms pub

From Paddington - take the side exit from the mainline station, alongside Platform 1, and climb the stairs. Chilworth Street is directly opposite and the Cleveland is between the second and third streets on the right. From Lancaster Gate - turn right at the exit to the station and cross the traffic lights, and having crossed them turn immediately right along Lancaster Terrace and then immediately left again onto Gloucester Terrace. Take the second on the left (Chilworth Street) and the Cleveland is on the right hand side.
