Since having a name change (from the King's Arms) and a full refurbishment, this freehouse has amassed a large amount of new fans. It has excellent staff, a good range of well-kept real ales from around the country and a contemporary food offering - from an entrée of l'escargo, to duck breast with a fruit glaze.
The pub is usually packed out at the weekends, but tables can be booked in advance if you really need to have a sit-down at the end of the day.
The clock-themed decor of the building is well placed, giving the dark walls an air of Victorian London and the open fireplace gives the pub a cozy feel, with a very large heated patio garden for the summertime and for the smokers in winter.
I tried a pint of the local Twickenham brewery "Naked Ladies", and it was top-notch. No wonder the pub has recently made it to the 2012 Good Pub Guide.
