The Commercial, Herne Hill
FancyaPint?'s review...
What was a rather standard and depressing South London railway pub has been given a full Mitchells & Butlers 'M&B' relaunch. The soft furnishings and wide range of continental beers of the M & B pubs have become familiar across London in recent times and this one is another impressive addition to their roster. The excellent in-house music choices on our visit only added to our favourable impression. Very much in keeping with the gradual gentrification of Herne Hill, this one mixes some of the ingredients of the Escape Bar next door but comes up with a far more palatable concoction.

Went in the other night. Had one pint of ale that taste of a revolting blue cheese, complained and was told by the non beer drinking bar staff that it was 'normal' even though they didn't drink it. then tried the Bonbadier, which tasted pretty nasty, sadly before we could leave a friend arrived, cue another pint, tried the pride, at least that was drinkable. pub quiz host was quite funny though, so that helped molify us somewhat, and they have millars gin which is always a positive
