Very pleasant, spacious pub on Wanstead High Street. Apparently this place was done up a few years ago and has improved dramatically. Plenty of room inside with a mix of dining tables and spaces more suited for lounging and drinking. The standout feature, however, is the large beer garden at the rear. Paved, and with plenty of picnic tables, it also has a well-stocked outside bar to save you the effort of traipsing indoors. The bar inside had Sharp's Doom Bar, London Pride and Early Bird Spring Hop Ale (a Shepherd Neame seasonal beer) when we last visited, and apparently regularly rotates other guests. There were also a few other unusual offerings including Fruli (a strawberry beer) and Sierra Nevada (a California classic) on draught as well as proper cider. All in all, a more than adequate selection for a wide range of palates. There's a decent food menu too. We never visited its previous incarnation, but we heartily approve of this one.

Felt I should add another as the last time i visited service had somewhat - may be luck - improved
What was not luck was the service from the staff who took the food order - probably not trained by the landlord - could not do enough and offered to get you more drinks European style - Much Better

From Snaresbrook: turn right out of the station and head down the High Street. The pub is a short distance away on the left hand side. From Wanstead: cross over at the lights into the High Street and head up the High Street. The pub is a little way away on the right hand corner.
